Pheobe Schrafft, harpiste

"Pheobe's passion for movement began when she was a young child growing up on Cape Cod. She started her journey of dance as a student of the Academy of Performing Arts in Orleans, MA and continued to study ballet, modern, and jazz. Finding great joy in the combination of music and movement, she also began playing the harp at age 8 under the tutelage of Ann Paus of Brewster, MA.

Upon graduating from Chatham High School in 2005 Pheobe went on to attend Berklee College of Music. In Boston she found endless outlets for creative expression. She nourished her love for acting, and enjoyed working as both a harpist and actress in film and live performance settings. Pheobe's development of a strong Yoga practice created great balance in her life. Upon graduating in 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Music she moved to Los Angeles to continue her performance career.

In Los Angeles, Pheobe graciously found herself amongst highly skilled teachers of varying yogic styles. She enjoyed cultivating a practice that included Ashtanga, and continued to find great reward in the benefits of yoga as a physical outlet in a busy world. However, she learned that not all teachers are created equal when she suffered a back injury at the hands of an unfamiliar instructor. Unable to continue work due to this injury, Pheobe returned to the Cape to undergo physical therapy.

During her recovery, Pheobe was introduced to the MECA Wedge by massage therapist Licia Fields and became greatly inspired by its unique ability to repair and remold the back. While undergoing physical therapy she worked on the MECA Wedge and began taking MECA Core and MECA Balance classes at Personalized Fitness Solutions. Additionally, she trained privately with Amy GiaQuinto, developing the core strength and stability that would allow her to overcome back pain and cultivate life-changing body awareness.

Pheobe feels passionately about sharing the information and tools she has accumulated as a result of her PFS experience. She completed the MECA Training Certification and passed both her written test and practical exam with flying colors in January 2013. She is honored to have been welcomed aboard as a teacher at PFS. Pheobe understands whole-heartedly the importance of truly being safe while working with an instructor. She feels blessed to have found trust and safety as a student at PFS."
